Mrs. Miranda is a certified dance educator. She is a graduate from Rutgers University and holds a Masters of Education in Dance Education. Prior to this, Mrs. Miranda graduated summa cum laude from Montclair State University where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Arts in English Education. While at MSU, she received extensive training in ballet, modern and choreography. She performed works by Jose Limon, Alwin Nikolais, Alexandra Beller and Lonne Morreton. Mrs. Miranda holds two New Jersey Standard Teaching Certificates in Dance, grades PreK-12 and English, grades 6-12.
Mrs. Miranda is the dance educator and program director at Ridge High School in Basking Ridge, NJ where she implemented and grew the dance program for over a decade. Mrs. Miranda initiated the development of three levels of dance courses and a dance course for students with special needs. Mrs. Miranda also directs several after school programs such as Ridge Dance Team, Ridge Dance Collective and the Ridge Dance Master Class Series. Mrs. Miranda is the choreographer for the Ridge Drama Club’s spring musicals. She has choreographed the following musicals: Rent: School Edition, The Secret Garden, Legally Blonde, Robber Bridegroom, Bye, Bye Birdie, The Addams Family, Fiddler on the Roof, Annie, Guys & Dolls, Matilda, Newsies and currently Something Rotten. Matilda and Newsies recently won The Papermill Playhouse Rising Star Award for "Best Musical". Mrs. Miranda also won The Papermill Playhouse Rising Star Award for "Outstanding Choreography and Staging for a Musical" for her work in Newsies. Mrs. Miranda is the advisor for the National Honor Society for Dance Arts – Ridge High School chapter. Aside from her work at Ridge High School, Mrs. Miranda was the former Director of Dance at the Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts (WIPA) in Berkeley Heights, NJ. WIPA is a non-profit community performing arts center, which services over 1,400 students in various performing arts. Mrs. Miranda oversaw the dance faculty and taught ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary and musical theatre dance. She also directed the following musicals for this organization: Urinetown, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Little Shop of Horrors, Honk, Annie, Aladdin Jr., The Jungle Book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Cinderella: Enchanted Edition. Mrs. Miranda is also certified in Pilates through STOTT Pilates and teaches Pilates in NJ. As an artist, Mrs. Miranda's passion for dance began 30 years ago. As a young student, Mrs. Miranda studied the following genres: ballet, tap, jazz, modern, musical theatre dance and contemporary dance. Mrs. Miranda is a founding company member of moe-tion dance theater, a NJ-based modern dance company, since 2007. Mrs. Miranda has a deep interest in the benefits of an integrated dance education for today’s 21st century learner, young dance artists and students with specials needs. Mrs. Miranda resides in New Jersey with her husband, beautiful daughters Gabriella and Juliana and spunky dog Brody. |
